Job SummaryThe Charge Nurse assumes responsibility for the human and fiscal resources available to provide quality, cost-effective patient-centered care. This role requires the ability to perform all major duties and critical tasks of a Registered Nurse, while demonstrating honesty, integrity, respectfulness, discretion, responsibility, and dependability.Key Responsibilities

• Ensure Joint Commission standards are met.
• Communicate effectively with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other disciplines regarding patient care and well-being.
• Provide direction and supervision to professional and ancillary staff in providing quality care.
• Make staffing recommendations based on fluctuating productivity.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to caregivers and take corrective action when necessary.
• Participate in staff development and support the team concept between individuals, units, and departments.
• Oversee departmental maintenance, supply status, and functionality.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, family, and staff.
• Assess patient physical, psychosocial, and behavioral health needs.
• Provide patient and family education.
• Prepare exam rooms, procedure rooms, equipment, and assist providers as needed.
• Accountable for identifying and reducing unsafe practices that could cause harm to patients.Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program.
  • Five (5) years RN experience preferred.
  • At least two (2) years RN experience as a charge nurse or supervisor preferred.
  • At least one (1) year RN experience in a clinic environment.
  • Must possess and maintain a current RN license to practice in Texas.
  • Must possess and maintain current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification.
